The Department of Sports Medicine is very proud to point out another of the many successes in its fifty-one-year tradition in the education of Sports Medicine doctors. In the school year of 2020/21.  despite the COVID19 pandemic, we have expanded our team of specialists, not only with doctors from neighboring countries (two specialists come from Montenegro) but also with prominent Dr. Omar Al Seyrafi, who comes from Aspetar Clinic, Doha, Qatar. Aspetar Clinic is one of the largest and most prestigious Sports Medicine clinics in the world. It can be interesting for all football fans to know that the medical team of Aspetar Clinic provides medical services to Paris Saint-Germain, a club with the most famous football players in the world.

We are extremely honored that Dr. Al Seyrafi, in addition to all the educational centers available to him around the world, (and he visited many in-person) chose our studies as a continuation and the crown of his ten-year-long career in Sports Medicine. We emphasize that Dr. Al Seyrafi attends our studies in the Serbian language and that he continuously learns our language, and the numerous cultural characteristics of this region, which will later allow him easier communication with our prominent elite athletes our experts in Sports Medicine. Mastering the skills according to our specialization program, especially cooperation with club doctors – mentors will help Dr. Al Seyrafi in organizing medical teams at one of the stadiums during the World Cup to be organized in Qatar in 2022.

Dr. Al Seyrafi has been employed as a GP at the Aspetar Clinic since 2012, working with both athletes and active members of the general population. Dr. Al Seyrafi began his career in the field of athletes screening, further gaining a rich experience in working with elite athletes in numerous World competitions (gymnastics, cycling, and football). He has extensive experience in working with Paralympians, which makes him stand out in our field, given all the specifics and vulnerabilities of this group. Currently, Dr. Al Seyrafi is running the Musculoskeletal Clinic at Aspetar.

Since November 2020, Dr. Al Seyrafi has been actively engaged in the Laboratory for Sports Medicine and Exercise Therapy, attending classes at all Clinics according to the curriculum of specialization. He is gaining the necessary knowledge and skills in Sports Science while sharing his rich experience with local Sports Medicine specialists and residents.
